Amy studied Spanish while earning her degree from Warren Wilson College in North Carolina. The language and radiant culture have influenced her to live, work and travel throughout many Latin American countries. Most recently, she spent time in the Maleku community of Costa Rica, teaching environmental education and giving surf lessons to both native and non-native Spanish speakers. Amy loves to show students how Spanish relates to the world around them while making the nuances of the language fun to learn. Whether taking a fieldtrip into downtown Leadville to meet the local Latino community or making tamales by hand, Amy’s class focuses on exploring influences and the abundant diversity of Hispanic cultures.
