Endowment
The High Mountain Institute's endowment was created in May, 2008. We thank everyone who donated to Our Campaign for Sustainability (OCS) to help make this Endowment possible.
Endowment Philosophy
The purpose of the High Mountain Institute's Endowments is to define the objectives of the Endowment Fund, as well as to design an investment policy to allow the Endowment to acheive those objectives. It will also create standards for investment performance, and define the roles of trustees, staff, and investment managers.
The purpose of the Endowment is to provide a resource base to support current and future:
- Financial Aid for students to attend all High Mountain Institute programs
- High Mountain Institute Faculty and Staff via salary and/or other benefits
- Other High Mountain Institute needs at the discretion of the Board of Trustees
While any amount may be withdrawn from the Endowment for any of these purposes at the discretion of the High Mountain Institute Board of Trustees, the intent is to have a stable and conservative spending policy, with the understanding that the lower the rate the higer the absolute dollar level payout in later years.
