Graduate Credit

Colorado College

The High Mountain Institute Apprentice Program and The Colorado College Master of Arts in Teaching Program are excited to announce a new pilot partnership for the 2012-13 Academic Year. HMI Fellows would take courses at Colorado College in the summer and fall 2012 and join the HMI community in the spring to fulfill the internship component of the degree. Fellows would return to Colorado College after HMI for a second summer of course work and graduation. Upon successful completion of this fourteen-month program, fellows will earn a Masters Degree and an initial teaching license for the state of Colorado. To be eligible, applicants must be accepted into both programs through separate admissions.

Prescott College

The High Mountain Institute has formally established a partnership with Prescott College in Prescott, AZ. This partnership allows apprentices to obtain a semester worth of graduate credits that can be applied towards the Master of Arts Program (MAP) at Prescott College. Apprentices will design a program that meets their personal and professional goals while living in the community of their choice and pursuing their field of interest. Apprentices may choose from the following areas of study: Adventure Education, Education, Environmental Studies, and Humanities.

After being accepted into the Apprentice Program applicants may choose to have their High Mountain Institute experience count towards one semester of a Master of Arts degree from Prescott College for an additional cost.  Apprentices will need to complete the Prescott application, be accepted, attend colloquia in Prescott, AZ, and complete the requirements they set forth for their program of study.
