High Mountain Institute

The original version of the Leading Edge is for students who have completed 10th, 11th or 12th grade. This multi-week program begins with an introduction to leadership. We spend two days on the HMI campus discussing students' individual leadership style, beginning to explore the dynamic of the group when working as a team, and preparing for our wilderness expedition. We then depart for an extended backpacking trip, where the wilderness becomes our classroom to explore and practice leadership theory.

This program is ideal for all students entering the second half of high school or the first year of college. It is particularly appropriate for students who will hold leadership roles at their school or in their community.

Session I (completed 10th-12th grade): June 22 -J uly 9, 2008; Tuition: $2,795*
Session II (completed 10th-12th grade): July 24 - August 8, 2008; Tuition: $2,495*

*$100 discount available if application is postmarked by March 15. Tuition includes all room and board, as well as transportation to and from Denver International Airport.
