The Leading Edge Staff
All High Mountain Institute programs are staffed by trained, professional outdoor educators. All wilderness staff have wilderness medical training and extensive experience leading youth in the backcountry.
Adjunct Leading Edge faculty are experts in leadership development for young adults.
Christina Reiff is the Director of the Leading Edge. She was born and raised in Switzerland, and first moved to the U.S. to attend Dartmouth College where she graduated with a major in Environmental Studies and a minor in Government. During college, Christina led outdoor orientation trips for incoming freshman. After graduating, Christina led backpacking and bike touring trips for Overland Summers and then worked in their office for four years, coordinating their international programs. Christina joined HMI in the fall of 2006 as the French teacher for the RMS. In 2008, Christina transitioned to become the HMI Programs Manager. She enjoys hiking, traveling, biking, telemarking and cooking.

Kate Bartlett has been instructing wilderness courses since 1993 and has worked at the High Mountain Institute since 2002. She is an adjunct faculty member for the Leading Edge. She is a graduate of Amherst College and the Center for Creative Leadership’s Leadership Development Program, and received her Executive MBA from the University of Denver. She is also a certified administrator of the Myers Briggs Type Indicator.
