RMS & College
Those that thrive at the RMS are better prepared for the college experience. They know themselves, they understand how to live and work with others, and they learn to take effective risks. These are certainly skills I would want my college bound students to have in their toolbox. - Peter Jennings, Director of College Counseling, Concord Academy
The college admissions process is an important component of the high school experience. Students must have the academic and extracurricular preparation to earn admittance at good schools-and to find a school that meets their intellectual and social needs. The Rocky Mountain Semester is committed to furthering this process both through assisting in the journey of self-discovery and navigating the world of standardized tests and college counseling.
The Semester Away Advantage
Students return from the RMS having completed a complement of Honors and AP-level courses and having developed analytical problem-solving skills that will help them be successful in the remainder of high school and college. They have demonstrated that they are risk-takers in the best sense, have the skills to live successfully in a residential environment, and possess a sense of curiosity about their learning and the world around them.
Colorado College is always pleased to receive applications from RMS graduates. They are eager to take on new challenges, find new adventures, and take risks. These students also cultivate important life skills that will assist them in becoming great leaders on our campus and beyond. Many students also return to their secondary schools with a renewed sense of focus and excitement for learning. - Melanie Drake, Colorado College Admissions
