Residential Life
Roommates, classmates, fellow adventurers, and best friends. A small close-knit community is at the heart of the Summer Term.

Our alumni repeatedly say that the highlight of their HMI experience was the friends they made. This small, supportive community is formed by working and learning together in all facets of life. At the High Mountain Institute, the tasks and chores that keep a community running smoothly are never outsourced. Every morning, we all spend a half-hour completing daily chores around campus, and each afternoon a small group of students works together with a faculty member to craft dinner for the entire community. In the evenings, students might play a game of cards, or laugh and talk about their day, before going to sleep in single-sex cabins that are heated by a wood burning stove and lit by solar panels.
