Support HMI
HMI is focused on creating a sustainable future in which we continue to provide unique, meaningful, and lasting educational opportunities for young people. Having developed the High Mountain Institute from the ground up, created numerous programs, and become the place “Where Nature and Minds Meet,” our success is illuminating the new challenges before us. Your consistent and generous support is vital to the High Mountain Institute’s future. The support of the HMI Fund is directed toward three key areas:
- Financial Aid: Annual support for financial aid diversifies the student body and allows each applicant’s enthusiasm, intellectual curiosity, and differences to be our primary admission criteria.
- Faculty and Staff Support: The success of the High Mountain Institute programs rests clearly on the shoulders of High Mountain Institute’s dedicated and dynamic faculty and staff. Annual fund support helps the High Mountain Institute strive to offer employment benefits that make a difference and the financial stability they deserve.
- Capital Projects: While a straightforward and rustic atmosphere encompass the HMI campus and buildings, the school is committed to a comprehensive and well-maintained infrastructure to support the efficiency, effectiveness, and relative comfort of each student experience. Ongoing maintenance and adherence to current standards for technology, buildings, and energy efficiency are a constant necessity.
In 1995, Molly and Christopher Barnes founded the High Mountain Institute on a vision that centered on connecting people to the natural world. The semester school began in 1998, and became the collective dream of our students, faculty, and generous donors. In the summer of 2003, our summer programs brought us to the forefront of leadership education for young adults. The addition of the Summer Term in 2011 continues our drive to expand the range of students who can participate in a High Mountain Institute program. We need your generous and consistent support to continue to build our future.
Please join us in supporting the High Mountain Institute this year and every year. In particular, we would like to encourage you to consider a multi-year pledge so we can plan for a sustainable future.
